For all those car owners.... Heard about this proposed car tax scheme on the radio. Apparently there is only one month left to register your objection to the 'Pay as you go' road tax. The petition is on the 10 Downing St website but they didn't tell anybody about it. Therefore at the time I heard this only 250,000 people had signed it so far and 750,000 signatures are required to stop them introducing it. This is legit... from the 10 Downing Street's website. Once you've given your details (you don't have to give your full address, just house number and postcode will do), they will send you an email with a link in it. Once you click on that link, you'll have signed the petition. Democracy in action? The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working mother who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month. On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit in time you can probably expect a Notice of Intended Prosecution with your monthly bill. morning all...went to soulville last yaer and had a great time,the jocks played a good mix of music.jazz & soul in all it's formats.some of the jocks have been around for a few years,and some are just starting out in this business.they enjoyed themselves and that was passed onto the folks that went to soulville,which made for a great weekend.i'm going again in easter,because i think it's worth it(my opinion).so to richard,chevvey and the rest of the gang,,,,,KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOUR DOING.

Another exiting day of intrigue, BS and irrelevent comment by the no names

. As James Brown once said - "Soul music, if I have to explain it you wouldn't understand" (similar to the statement about Jazz). Well done Richard for defending what I don't think needs defending, the scene is as much about the people within it as the music. Had to laugh earlier at one of the anon remarks about 'famous DJ's', have seen enough of them play for themselves with little regard for the paying punter, half the reason why I stopped going to a certain weekend along with the reason that some high profile jocks have ego's that have outgrown the scene. Give me new DJ's that love the scene, the music and providing aural pleasure for the appreciative any day, the law of averages means that there will always be the ungrateful punter but they are not really needed, very doubtful they have a high standard of musical knowledge anyway as they are too obsessed with the big names and the chance of speaking to them or gettiong an autograph

.. that's probably why we suffer these no name posts, people to scared to own up to their inadequacy on a scene they claim to know about, either that or just some annoying child that has browsed and found a forum that needs no registration and thinks it amusing (to themselves) to stir the pot....these no names NEVER list the events they go to, their musical choice (including tracks), the names of the DJ's they like (apart from those whose autograph they desire) or apparently arrange their own nights. So to me they are irrelevant pond dwellers... I know that Monumental will as always be a great night where I know maybe 30% of the tracks and enjoy the company, ChiSoul will be excellent, Soulville will be spent amongst people who love and provide for 'our' music and most of all know where it started and what it means to those that attend. All the other advertised doo's on here will attendees who go once again through musical love..the only ones who never go out seem to be the no names who go to their apparent big weekends every year and claim to have love a scene that they really have lost touch with - we don't need them because by their posts they have NO SOUL and certainly no "Love, Peace or Snakebite" .. anywhoo, back to playing my non weekender music

Lets be honest, if you go to The Orwell or Soul Essence then you expect guys to stand around talking about the price of tunes, after all these events are aimed at lovers of and collectors of rare Soul. I would suggest that the likes of Soulville, SoulVillage, Lacy lady etc do not fall into that category. That said the crowd may be just as knowledgeable about their tunes, but are not hung up on rarity or pricetags !!As I always say 'Vive La difference' !! It,s not about who,s better,I had a great time back in the day,but i,m having a good time now,some of us have been round the block once some twice,I have promoted just about every big name dj since the early 80s,there should always be new blood to add on to the tried and tested jocks if only to give them a kick up the arse.I still get a kick out of seeing new djs,yes some are terrible and don,t hold a light to the chris hills,but every now and again you see someone and that gets the old joints moving and grooving.You might be right well,but thats your opinion and it might right for you,but I like to see old and new sharing the centre stage

I mean brave,because they have put their money and time to try and put events on knowing that perhaps they will be shot down for trying by people like yourselves.you know that sometimes events need a few goes to get off the ground.It depends what type of black music you like to what sort of club you want to go too,but we have had all of us,including some of the biggest promoters around had bad attended nights.If you don,t like the person putting it on ,fair enough, but that does,nt say his or her event is bad.To answerto on the fence,I been to a lot of events over the years andover the last few weeks,If you read back on here you will know where I mean.My own weekend was slagged off byonly two people on here(again no names)and i,ve had lots of things put in the way over the last few years to stop us from putting events on,and you two on here are doing the same,by putting down events by people(a lot of the time getting no money out of it)who just like the scene and the people in it. My advice to you is stop moaning and go and enjoy yourselves for once,and why don,t you be brave and put your names on here!!!!!!

Hello Bev and Ash, I agree with your words, thank God no one was hurt and they were able to go on their way. Woman at Highways Dept said as well as four crashes it needed to be said to the by the police that the road was unsafe Told they were working on A and B roads etc and side roads were not a priority.

To top it asked managing agents to get some grit on slope, told cant be done, cant expect their lady to come out and we pay anything up to £350 a MONTH on service charges etc. Anyway enough of me moans and groans How are you both??? Off out soon shall take it steady at a snails pace

Geoff made it into work today ok, problems getting onto road from slope at side of flats, worried about tonight and tomorrow morning as the slope and the road will be lethal. Had two gritters up road but no grit laid. One crash already outside flat, thankfully no-one was hurt. Phoned council asked if hey could send gritter up road but told only if there are FOUR crashes will a gritter be sent At least the snow has stopped for now.
